Part One
Officer Reedy stood in front of the mirror, tightening the dark navy tie at his throat, and smiled. He studied himself for a moment longer. His dark brown eyes scanned his short, curly black hair on his head for mistakes. There were none. With pride, he straightened his collar and turned to his wife. She was the color of semi-sweet chocolate. He gave her tight, curvaceous frame a once-over and bit his lip. She cracked a wide smile and tossed a pillow at him.
“You’ve had plenty of time for all that,” she said.
“Doesn’t mean I can’t still drool.” He pulled her close and kissed her neck. She giggled, trying to push him away with both hands, but he held fast—loudly slurping her neck. She broke into hysterical laughter and gave his chest with a playful smack. He finally let go, grinning wide.
“I’m not gonna fuck you,” she said with a sly smile. “This is your first day back in weeks. Don’t be late.”
“Fine,” he said, “But that cute ass better be ready when I get home.”
“Oh, you best believe my baby’s going to get some,” she said, looping her arms around his neck to hold him close. “I love you, sweetheart.”
He stared into her eyes. “I love you too, baby.”
